Online Lecture: “Plagiarism and Self-Plagiarism: Where Is the Line?”
The KPI Library invites researchers from Igor Sikorsky KPI and anyone interested to join the online lecture “Plagiarism and Self-Plagiarism: Where Is the Line?”, which will take place as part of the open lecture series “Academic Integrity: Rules of the Game or a Matter of Honor.”
In today’s academic environment, the issue of academic integrity is one of the most critical. Using others’ or even one’s own previous work without proper citation can lead to serious reputational risks. But where is the line between acceptable use and a violation?
Key aspects:
- what constitutes plagiarism and self-plagiarism in the modern academic context, and what distinguishes them;
- where the line is drawn regarding the permissible reuse of one’s own texts and data;
- how to properly cite references to one’s own previous work;
- what common mistakes researchers make;
- how plagiarism detection systems work;
- how to avoid violations and maintain your academic reputation.
Speaker: Sofia Zherebchuk, Chief Librarian and Coordinator of the Research Data Management Department at the KPI Library.
