In accordance with<\/span> Regulations on the Academic Plagiarism Prevention System at Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute<\/a>\u00a0<\/a>mandatory screening for the presence of <\/span>matches\/identity\/similarity<\/span> are subject to:<\/span><\/p>\n \u0422technical inspection for the presence of <\/span>matches\/identity\/similarity<\/span> Academic texts at Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute are prepared by:<\/span><\/p>\n It is important to remember that any anti-plagiarism system is merely a tool to assist the expert. The report generated by the system does not in any way confirm the presence or absence of plagiarism in the work.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cTextual matches identified by the anti-plagiarism system may be either academic plagiarism or proper citations, common knowledge, references to literary sources, and so on. It should be noted that computer programs do not detect improper borrowing from non-digitized sources. Moreover, they do not detect translations of foreign-language texts without proper citations or other forms of academic plagiarism. Furthermore, the extent of textual matches detected by any computer program depends not only on the presence or absence of such matches but also on the content of the database used for comparison, the software\u2019s algorithms and settings, and other circumstances. It should also be noted that the criteria specified in the recommendations cannot be applied to certain types of texts, such as well-known formulations of mathematical theorems and their proofs, descriptions of standard methods, excerpts from literary works, legislative documents, etc..\u201d<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n Systems<\/span> detection of matches\/identity\/similarity<\/span> do not find any matches in texts written in different languages.<\/span><\/p>\n They cannot determine whether a particular text was written by someone else on commission. Additionally, the programs do not detect matches with: carefully paraphrased texts; or texts that have not been published online or have been removed from websites.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/details>\n \u201cThe determination of whether academic plagiarism is present or absent should be made by qualified experts who are knowledgeable both in the technical aspects of detecting academic plagiarism and in the current state of the relevant field of research, taking into account both the results of computer programs and other data\u201d.<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<\/details>\n The Commission on Ethics and Academic Integrity of the Academic Council of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute is a standing advisory body of the Academic Council of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/details>\n There are various ways to check whether a text is original; for example, you can search for small sections of the text using Google. This method allows you to verify the document <\/span>for the presence of <\/span>matches\/identity\/similarity<\/span> without installing any third-party software. To do this, simply copy a portion of the text, paste it into the search bar, and press \u201cEnter.\u201d The results will include matches if they contain the exact same text. This method isn\u2019t very convenient, as it doesn\u2019t allow you to check the entire text and is only suitable for finding text that has been copied exactly.<\/span><\/p>\n The most convenient way to check text content <\/span>for the presence of <\/span>matches\/identity\/similarity<\/span> \u2013 use specialized software and online services. These are available both for a fee and for free. There are quite a few of them, and their features vary.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/details>\n A page has been created on the university’s website <\/span>Academic Integrity<\/a>,<\/span> where<\/span> a list of legal and regulatory documents, as well as links to useful resources, has been compiled.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/details>\n Proper citation in academic texts is a matter of adhering to the standards of academic integrity.<\/span><\/p>\n In-text citations, as well as the list of sources used and the bibliography, are formatted in accordance with Ukrainian national standards <\/span>\u2013<\/span> DSTU 8302:2015 or DSTU GOST 7.1:2006.<\/span><\/p>\n There are also a large number of (\u043f\u043e\u043d\u0430\u0434 6000) international citation styles. When choosing a specific style, it is important to consider the field of study.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n If your field is in the humanities, you can choose from APA style, Harvard style, MLA style, OSCOLA style, and others.
