Director of the KPI Library Yevheniia Kulyk took part in the IV International Conference “Open Science and Innovation in Ukraine 2025.”
She presented a report entitled “KPI Open Science Model: How to Build a University System of Openness in Science” on how Igor Sikorsky KPI is creating a comprehensive open science system that brings together people, data, institutions, and ideas.
The presentation covered the key elements of the model, practical steps for implementation, and KPI’s experience in developing a culture of openness in the scientific community.
We are proud and continue to work.

Publications included in the TOP 10 most cited in their fields
The scientific achievements of Igor Sikorsky KPI include publications that are among the top 10 most cited in their fields. This is not surprising: our researchers work on complex fundamental problems that have practical significance for modern physics and engineering.
One example is last year’s article by Vyacheslav Gorshkov, professor of the Department of General Physics and Modeling of Physical Processes, in the Journal of Sound and Vibration. This publication is included in the highest SJR quartile in the field of applied mechanics and acoustics, and the article itself has already become one of the most cited!
What makes this work unique? It investigates how acoustic waves propagate in multilayer structures with periodic insertions. This is important, for example, for creating materials with specified sound insulation properties or for the latest sensor systems. The authors have constructed a complex analytical model that allows them to accurately describe the behavior of waves and simplify engineering calculations when designing such systems.

KPI publications in the top 10 most cited in the field of psychology (according to Scopus)
Every year, KPI scientists publish works that are among the top 10 most cited in their fields. And this applies not only to engineering or materials science – our scientists’ research has a global impact in the social sciences and humanities as well.
One example is the publication by Associate Professor Gennady Korzhov (Faculty of Sociology and Law) in the journal Psychology of Religion and Spirituality. It was included in the list of the most cited works in the field of psychology of religion.
What is the strength of this work? The study analyzes how religious
beliefs help people overcome psychological trauma after interpersonal conflicts. The authors showed that positive religious strategies promote growth and well-being, while negative ones increase anxiety and depressive symptoms.
This publication has made a significant contribution to the development of interdisciplinary psychology, as it helps to better understand the universal mechanisms for overcoming life crises in different sociocultural contexts.

Joint publications with the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Kyiv National University, and Sumy State University: how do collaborations affect citation rates?
According to #SciVal, KPI scientists actively collaborate with Ukrainian partners.
The leaders among them are:
- National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine;
- Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv;
- Sumy State University, which also demonstrates the highest FWCI indicator among partners – 1.44. This means that such joint works are cited 44% more often than the average level in the relevant fields.
Why is this important?
- Collaborations increase the visibility and quality of research,
- Provide access to shared research infrastructure and new ideas,
- Increase the chances of publication in high-impact journals.
We sincerely thank all scientific partners of Igor Sikorsky KPI for our joint achievements and look forward to reaching new academic heights!
