Changes in Library working hours

We would like to inform you how the Library will work on the New Year’s holidays:

24 of December (Friday) – 9:00-16:30
25, 26, 27 of December (Saturday, Sunday, Monday) – holidays
28, 29, 30 of December (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) – 9:00-17:30

1, 2, 3 of January (Saturday, Sunday, Monday) – holidays
4, 5 of January (Tuesday, Wednesday) – 9:00-17:30
6 of January (Thursday) – 9:00-16:30
7, 8,9 of January (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) – holidays
From the 10 of January (Monday) the Library works due to the usual schedule.

Belka Students Space is closed because of holidays from the 25 to the 27 of December.

Lampa Open Electronics Laboratory
From the 25 to 27 of December – holidays.
28-30 of December – opened 16:30-20:00
From the 31 of December till the 11 of January Lampa is closed for the holidays.

National Reading Week took place

The first National Reading Week, initiated by the Ukrainian Book Institute in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy, took place on the 13-19 of December.

The KPI Library celebrated it with a number of diverse activities:

  • Launched «What to read?» project in cooperation with KPImedia;
  • Initiated the study of the Scandinavian educational phenomenon Bilgung;
  • Held the first meeting of the «Fantastic course 3.0: fantasy genre» project;
  • Organized the reading of Neil Gaiman’s writings;
  • Gather community for decoration of Christmas-tree and «Secret book» game;
  • Screened Robert Mulligan’s movie «To kill a mocking-bird».

Also, during the reading week, Rostyslav Voronezhskyi, consultant of the dictionary projects «Dictionary Heritage of Ukraine» and «Ukrainian Grammar Classics» of the NGO «Rotary Club Kyiv City» handed over to the library reprint editions of «Russian-Ukrainian Dictionary in 4 volumes» edited by A. Krymskyi, «Dictionary of Mathematical Terminology (project)» by F. Kalynovych and «Essays on Ukrainian Syntax (in connection with phraseology and stylistics)» by S. Smerechynskyi.

Webinars «SciVal Opportunities from Different Perspectives»

During December 2021 Igor Sikorsky KPI researchers have access to SciVal.

SciVal is a modular online platform for monitoring and analyzing international research using visualization tools and modern citation metrics, providing wide opportunities for all participants in scientific communication. The main source of data for SciVal is the largest international scientometric database Scopus, which provides presentation and evaluation of research results of more than 20,000 organizations from 231 countries.

To explore this powerful tool and learn how to work with it, we invite you to join the webinars «SciVal Opportunities from Different Perspectives» by Elsevier representatives on the 14 of December at 15:15 and on 16 of December at 16:00.

Access to the SciVal analytical resource from Elsevier

Igor Sikorsky KPI users have access to SciVal, Elsevier’s analytical resource, in December 2021. SciVal is a modular online platform for monitoring and analyzing international research using visualization tools and modern citation metrics.

The analysis is performed using different modules:

  • Overview 
  • Benchmarking
  • Collaboration 
  • Reporting 

Because the data source for SciVal is the international Scopus database, researchers who have already set up remote access to Scopus this year can use SciVal (login / password are the same).

All scholars can take the opportunity to work with the resource in the KPI Library.

Researchers of Igor Sikorsky KPI have the opportunity to configure remote access to Scopus and SciVal using the registration form.

National Reading Week at the KPI Library

KPI Library invites everyone to join the events dedicated to the National Reading Week (13-19 of December).

The National Reading Week is initiated by the Ukrainian Book Institute. This is a nationwide action aimed to attract new audiences to reading, promoting the book as a source of thinking development and gaining new knowledge.

14 of December, 18:30, room 1.2. – «The Nordic phenomenon of Bildung: exploring it together».
Registration.

15 of December, 18:00, room 6.2. – «Fantasy genre» – lecture held within the framework of «Fantastic course» project.
Registration.

16 of December, 18:00 – Online-reading on the Zoom platform, Neil Gaiman’s «Why our future depends on reading».
Registration.

17 of December

14:00 – Decorating the Christmas-tree in the Library hall. «Secret book» event.

18:30, 6 floor – «To kill a mocking-bird» movie screening (director Robert Mulligan).

Please pay attention that all the offline events will take place in compliance with anti-epidemic measures.

To visit the Library you should show one of the documents:

  • COVID-19 vaccination certificate;
  • Negative PCR test or rapid test to determine the antigen with a validity of 72 hours;
  • Document on recovery from coronavirus infection.
