KPI in the international ranking SCImago Institutions Rankings

Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute in the international SCImago Institutions Rankings: we have something to be proud of – and room to grow!

According to the results of the updated SCImago Institutions Rankings (SIR), Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute demonstrates a stable presence among the leading scientific institutions: the overall percentile is 74% (which means that we are consistently among the quarter of the world’s best institutions in terms of aggregate indicators).

According to the SIR ranking methodology, not only the number of scientific publications is evaluated, but also the citation of research, the quality of cooperation with international partners, the number of patents, media presence, participation in achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals, etc. No rating can fully reflect the depth and complexity of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute’s educational and scientific achievements. However, such analytical systems show in which directions we can develop further.

What can we improve?

  • Increase the number of publications in Q1 (SJR) journals
  • Work more actively on patenting research results
  • Expand open access to research results, communicate more actively with the public.

Use the features of the eBook program

The eBook program allows young Ukrainians to receive UAH 908 to buy books in Ukrainian. This is a great opportunity to discover new authors or finally buy a long-awaited book.

Who can use the program?

All citizens of Ukraine who turn 18 in 2024 or later. To participate, you need to have an ID card or a foreign passport and tax number (RNOKPP) added to the Diia app.

How to use it?

The algorithm is simple:

1. Open the Diia app.

2. Select the eBook service. Open the Diia.Card application.

3. Submit an application and wait for the funds to be credited.

4. Within three months, use them in participating bookstores – for paper, electronic or audiobooks in Ukrainian.

The list of bookstores and publishers participating in the program is available on the website of the Ukrainian Book Institute.

Don’t miss this opportunity – choose, read, and be inspired! The project was implemented by the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications of Ukraine in cooperation with the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, the Ukrainian Book Institute and the “Action Support Project” implemented by UNDP in Ukraine with funding from the Government of Sweden.

Open access: almost 40% of KPI publications are open to all!

According to Scopus/SciVal, 39.1% of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute publications for 2019-2024 are available in open access (#OpenAccess). This means that the results of our research can be freely read, cited and used by anyone in the world!

Open access:

  • increases the visibility and citation of works,
  • promotes international scientific communication,
  • complies with the policies of leading grantors and #OpenScience initiatives,
  • brings the results of Ukrainian research closer to those who really need them.

How to ensure open access to your publications?

  • Upload full texts to the Institutional Repository of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute (ELAKPI)
  • Do you want to share preprints through thematic repositories (for example, arXiv or ChemRxiv) or provide access to scientific data? Contact the KPI Library – we will help you choose the best platform, advise on copyright, and show you how to make your results as visible as possible.

What books are in my library?

“How can I find out which books I borrowed and did not return?” – is one of the most popular questions at the end of the school year. We’ll tell you about it in detail.

How can I check which books from the Library are issued to my library card?

  • Go to the Catalog+;
  • Select the “Log in” tab and enter the barcode – student number without letters, and password – date of birth in the format day/month/year (for example, 01012002);
  • Select the tab “Your account” => “Issued copies”.
