Energy Independence of the Igor Sikorsky KPI Library
We continue to enhance the energy independence of the Igor Sikorsky KPI Library!
This is not only wonderful news, but also an inspiring story of support. This harsh winter, during the most widespread power and heating outages, we received a message offering help from our friends and colleagues in Poland—Jacek Krolikowski and Magdalena Krasowska-Igras from the Information Society Development Foundation (Fundacja FRSI).
At that time, the KPI Library already had a solar power plant with a storage system that ensured the operation of our resources, and the CLUST SPACE educational space was functioning as a Resilience Hub. But the Library is large and has many diverse needs.
And now, thanks to the support of our Polish friends, we have installed a stationary uninterruptible power supply unit in the periodicals room (4.2), which is frequently used for events. In addition, workstations in our Education and Research Support Center (Room 4.4) have been equipped. So now we can more easily and quickly fulfill user requests even during prolonged power outages, remain available for consultations, and keep our finger on the pulse during monitoring and analytics.
We sincerely thank the Information Society Development Fund for this vital assistance! We also express our gratitude to the KPI Trade Union Committee for their support and to the staff of the Department of Power Supply at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering for finding the optimal solution for our energy independence.
For us, this is not only an important technical step—but also the priceless feeling that we have friends nearby who help keep the lights on for our community.

4th International Scientific and Practical Conference “Library Development Strategies: From Concept to Implementation”
Today, the conversation about leadership takes on special significance. War, humanitarian challenges, blackouts, shelling, and destruction are altering the familiar conditions of life and work, forcing institutions to seek new approaches and solutions. For libraries, this is a time to rethink their role—as spaces of support, knowledge, and interaction for their communities.
In such conditions, various forms of leadership become particularly important, as does the ability to take responsibility for change and to think and act strategically. Equally important are the values that shape decisions and guide development. That is why these issues form the basis of a professional discussion—about how libraries can respond to the challenges of our time, maintain resilience, and grow alongside their communities.
The KPI Library invites you to participate in the 4th International Scientific and Practical Conference “Library Development Strategies: From Idea to Implementation,” which will take place June 17–19 in a hybrid format.
